IT Systems Administrator- Shift Auto Group

Shift Auto Group is seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Systems Administrator to support and enhance the technology infrastructure that powers our multi location automotive operations. 

The ideal candidate is a hands on, solutions oriented IT professional with strong technical expertise, excellent problem solving ability, and a commitment to delivering high quality support to end users across all departments.

What You Will Do

As the IT Systems Administrator, you will play a central role in ensuring that Shift Auto Group's technology runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently across all locations. Primary responsibilities will include:

IT Hardware & Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, POS systems, servers, switches, routers, and wireless access points.

  • Oversee hardware installations, upgrades, imaging, repairs, and deployments.

  • Track all IT assets, warranties, and lifecycle schedules.

  • Support network cabling and physical infrastructure requirements.

Support Business Applications

  • Provide daily support for email, Google Workspace, PBS DMS, and other business related systems.

  • Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot software.

  • Work with vendors to resolve escalated application issues.

  • Train employees on the proper use of software tools.

  • Manage software licenses and monitor application-related costs.

Manage Telephony & Mobile Systems

  • Administer the company's VoIP phone system, including call flows, routing, IVRs, and integrations.

  • Troubleshoot call quality and coordinate support with service providers.

  • Procure, configure, and manage company-issued mobile phones and tablets.

  • Monitor usage and ensure cost-effective mobile plan selection.

Ensure Network Reliability & Cybersecurity

  • Maintain and secure networks, firewalls, VPNs, switches, and wireless systems.

  • Monitor for security threats, phishing attempts, and vulnerabilities.

  • Support company-wide cybersecurity awareness training.

  • Manage backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity measures.

Support Website & Information Management

  • Perform basic updates to company websites.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and web providers on performance or security issues.

  • Organize and secure digital files, cloud storage, and user permissions.

  • Support compliance with privacy and document retention requirements.

Provide Technical Support & Training

  • Deliver front-line technical support for hardware, software, phones, mobile devices, and network issues.

  • Onboard new employees and ensure they have the tools and access they need.

  • Create user guides, training materials, and reference resources.

Lead IT Projects & Process Improvements

  • Plan and execute IT upgrades, migrations, and new installations.

  • Recommend technology improvements and evaluate business needs.

  • Work with vendors to source equipment and services.

  • Develop and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures.

What to Expect in This Role

This is primarily an on-site role based at our Fredericton main office.  You will occasionally travel between company locations to support infrastructure, systems, or project needs and some after hours or weekend work may be required for system maintenance, urgent issues, or planned upgrades.  Please note that the role involves hands on work with equipment, cabling, and network hardware.

Qualifications

  •  Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

  •  Minimum of 2+ years of IT support or IT management experience

  •  Experience with VoIP / telephony systems and mobile device management will be

 considered an asset

  •  Experience with website content management

  •  Understanding of cloud-based systems (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), network

 infrastructure, and cybersecurity tools

  •  Understanding of networking protocols, firewalls, and security best practices

  •  Automotive dealership IT experience will be considered an asset

  •  Must possess a valid drivers license at time of hire and throughout employment
