Over the past year we have been migrating to a new cutting-edge headless CMS (Contentful) and are looking to accelerate this, as well as take it to the next level, building services which allow us to create client experiences with deep personalisation, working seamlessly across devices and channels. HL are looking for a talented Software Engineering Manager, passionate about delivering market-leading digital experiences for our clients, to join our team in our mission to transform the investing experience by using advanced personalisation across our client journeys. What You'll Be Doing Leading a cross-functional product engineering team Supporting the growth of our Software Engineers Driving technical delivery, continuous improvement and innovation Partnering closely with technical/business leaders and teams to understand business processes and data flows/challenges/opportunities, and design solutions to deliver better outcomes for our clients and colleagues Recruiting and shaping an existing team to be a high-performing set of talented and experienced professionals Ownership of services under your team - maintenance, support, security and continuous improvement Establish a culture that is driven by purpose and excellence, and a team that is motivated to make a difference About You Strong technology leadership experience within complex organisations You set guard rails around scope, technology, quality, NFRs, and best practices, then empower your team to find the best solution within these guard rails You enjoy working in a product and client value driven environment. Collaborating closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders Strong understanding of full stack engineering best practices including CICD and Observability Acted as a strong partner to multiple business areas to deliver on key priorities with a one-team mindset Strong people focus - you prioritise your team's L&D, understand how to keep your team motivated and build a strong culture based on psychological safety Able to manage ambiguity and seek clarity through collaboration and communication Strong software engineering background, able to define and communicate complex architectural concepts to non-technical stakeholders Technology HTML / CSS / TypeScript / React / Next.js / Node.js AWS / Netlify / Lambdas / Terraform IaC Contentful CMS Vitest / Playwright / Storybook Analytics, A/B Testing, Personalisation and Tag Management Interview Process This will be a three-stage interview process, comprising an initial informal call with the hiring manager, followed by two structured interviews. Working Schedule 37.5 hours flexible, based upon meeting business demands with occasional onsite visits at the Bristol office
