We are looking for a skilled and certified Forklift Operator to join our team in Madison, Wisconsin. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise within our warehouse. Your primary goal is to support the smooth flow of goods, ensuring timely movement from receiving to storage and from storage to shipping areas. The ideal candidate possesses a valid forklift certification, a keen eye for safety, and experience in a warehouse environment. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, adhering to all company policies and procedures. This position requires precision and care to prevent damage to goods and ensure the safety of yourself and others. We are committed to maintaining a secure workplace, and adherence to all safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. This role is crucial for our logistics operations, contributing directly to inventory accuracy and order fulfillment speed. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials and products from trucks and storage areas.
- Move and stack merchandise according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on forklifts and equipment.
- Assist with inventory management, including locating and transferring stock.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free from obstructions.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, including mandatory PPE usage.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
- Support shipping and receiving operations as needed.
- Contribute to team efforts and meet operational targets.
Requirements:
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Previous experience operating various types of forklifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Familiarity with logistics and material handling principles.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE at all times.
- Must be able to work scheduled shifts, including potential overtime.
