We are hiring a Material Handler to join our logistics team in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout our facility. Your duties will include loading and unloading trucks, transferring materials between departments, and ensuring proper storage of goods. This position is fundamental to maintaining the flow of inventory and supporting production schedules. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of handling physical tasks. A strong understanding of warehouse operations and material handling equipment is beneficial. Adherence to all safety protocols, including the consistent use of PPE, is paramount. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and shipping containers.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Store materials properly, ensuring organization and accessibility.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counts.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including mandatory PPE usage.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or equipment malfunctions.
- Support receiving and shipping operations as needed.
- Must be comfortable with frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of heavy items (up to 60 lbs).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Valid forklift operator certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and regulations.
- Physical strength and dexterity to handle materials.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with logistics operations.
