Responsibilities
The implementation & maintenance of documented technical procedures, establishing and maintaining validation of mobile forensic methods and assessing and testing staff competency. Positively endorse and nurture a culture that understands and embraces the requirement to work to the FSR code of practice, quality frameworks and remain committed to continuous improvement. As a Senior Officer, there will be an expectation of leadership and management of people as well as the leadership of activities. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with FSR codes of practice and ISO standards. Represent HMRC and demonstrate compliance with the required standards during external assessments conducted by UKAS. Manage forensic exhibits to ensure continuity, confidentiality and security is always maintained. An element of the role will entail conducting operational requests such as:
Processing of digital devices including capture and analysis of mobile devices and the production of evidence to the Criminal Justice system. Attending search premises under warrant to triage and recover digital evidence, whilst supporting other team members in doing so. Attending court as a professional witness. Occasionally conducting operationally led Research & Development (R&D) around new or emerging threats in the mobile device and mobile applications space or other related areas. Nurture a culture of inclusivity ensuring where possible the involvement of others for developmental and experience generation where skill sets and resources allow. To carry out any duties commensurate with the purpose of the post that may from time to time be determined by the leadership team.
Essential Criteria
Demonstrable experience securing UKAS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO/IEC 17020:2012, and/or the FSR Codes, for digital forensics services, or an environment which has made significant progress toward UKAS accreditation. Experience of contributing to a quality management system, such as the production of Documented Technical Procedures (DTPs, formerly known as SOPS), the conduct of internal auditing, and the development of competency and validation frameworks. Operational search and seizure experience, particularly the application of digital forensics methods at crime scenes with advanced, in-depth knowledge of digital forensics tools and techniques, including but not limited to, mobile device data extraction, data processing and analysis. A sound understanding of common storage technologies, operating systems, and file systems, as well as the ability to identify and interpret new or unconventional data structures. Demonstrable experience of having managed a team or a programme of work to deliver complex technical objectives. Hold a full UK Driving Licence and be willing to drive on official business. Desirable Criteria
Degree or equivalent qualification in computer science or another relevant subject. Training
Depending on existing experience, you will be expected to undertake training, ranging from in‑house training to external courses. There will be a training assessment period of 6 months. Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST): Applicants will be required to be cleared by an occupational health assessment to be able to attend a PPST course. Successful completion of the PPST is required to undertake duties away from the office for this role. Failure to pass and maintain the PPST certificate may affect receipt of the flexibility payment. We’ll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process: The interview will consist of a presentation, questions and a technical test. Benefits
Salary: £45,544. HM Revenue & Customs contributes £13,194 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
