Line Cook/Prep Cook

The Poppy Bistro at the Canmore Legion offers homemade lunch and dinner for our members and guests. We are looking for an experienced Line Cook who can continue to offer a variety of meals that our customers have come to love. We have no staff accommodations.

The Line Cook will be responsible for:

Memorizing recipes, policies, procedures, and standard portion sizes.

Preparing ingredients and components of each recipe on the restaurant's menu.

Maintaining freshness of product and rotating old product out.

Working with a small team of staff to handle varying levels of activity.

Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe workspace at all times to avoid contamination.

Being aware of and following all kitchen health and safety regulations and guidelines.

Comfortable in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Cooperative teamwork skills.

Good verbal communication skills.

Organizational skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Knowledge of the standards and regulations for food preparation.

Ability to work neatly, efficiently, and safely.

Red Seal / Journeyman Cook an asset.

Culinary Arts Education an asset.

Experience

Minimum 1 year's experience working in professional kitchens and restaurants.

Position

Full time employment.

Hours can be flexible depending on staffing levels and operational needs.

Staff meals and tips.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
