Polycor Group, a world leader in the natural stone industry, is seeking a Maintenance Manager at our Ebel, ON location. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is crucial to maintaining our facility and equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing workplace inspections, conducting and overseeing employee safety training, and working with managers/supervisors on the status or need of repairs and/or improvements throughout the facility.
Responsibilities of a Manager
- Perform workplace inspections
- Conduct information sessions (safety talks, tail gate meetings)
- Employee safety & training
- Correct and report substandard acts or conditions
- Set a good example to employees by work ethic, wearing proper protective equipment, adhere to & enforce company policies and smoke free Ontario Act
Primary Objectives
- Assign or perform repairs and preventative maintenance
- Document service and maintenance records of all equipment
- Train equipment operators on job specific regular maintenance to be performed by operator
- Meet/communicate with management/supervisors on progress of repairs, priorities, recommendations for improvements, review of quotes for required outsourcing and approval
- Ensure equipment is in safe working order or locked out for repair
- Perform regular rotation inspections of shops/work areas to assess the equipment and discuss with workers; to note any oversight on the repair or maintenance within the department
- Ensure maintenance programs can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost effective manner
- Responsible for alerting management of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or may occur
Requirements
- Licensed mechanic or millwright preferred
- Sound mechanical knowledge for repair and maintenance of a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment
- Welding experience
- Knowledge of equipment inspections and record keeping
- Ability to multi-task & attention to detail
- Communication, leadership, and diplomacy skills
- Organizational, time management, and problem solving skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 23kg (51lbs) regularly
- Ability to work in various weather conditions year round
- Standing, bending, twisting, lifting, handling/gripping

(a)WORKS IN THE MANNER AND WITH THE PROTECTIVE DEVICES, MEASURES AND PROCEDURE REQUIRED BY THIS ACT AND THE REGULATIONS; AND
(b)USES OR WEARS THE EQUIPMENT, PROTECTIVE DEVICES OR CLOTHING THAT THE WORKER'S EMPLOYER REQUIRES TO BE USED OR WORN.
- (2) WITHOUT LIMITING THE DUTY IMPOSED BY SUBSECTION (1), A SUPERVISOR SHALL,
(a)ADVISE A WORKER OF THE EXISTENCE OF ANY POTENTIAL OR ACTUAL DANGER TO THE HEALTH & SAFETY OF THE WORKER OF WHICH THE SUPERVISOR IS AWARE;
(b)WHERE SO PRESCRIBED, PROVIDE A WORKER WITH WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AS TO THE MEASURES AND PROCEDURES TO BE TAKEN FOR PROTECTION OF THE WORKER; AND
(c)TAKE EVERY PRECAUTION REASONABLE IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES FOR THE PROTECTION OF A WORKER.
