Head Baker Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled baker to lead our team. As the head of our bakery, you will be responsible for guiding the team by modeling successful behaviors and ensuring compliance with established systems and procedures.

Your primary responsibilities will include planning and overseeing daily production, coaching team members on performance, and measuring and documenting team member performance. You will work closely with the management team to build and execute strategies around key goals.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills, as well as creative problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills. They will be able to empower the team to support our continued success and growth.

  • Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • 50% on-the-floor leadership, 50% administrative
    • Understands and upholds our company mission statement and guiding principles
    • Proficiency in all stations: baking, preparation, and mixers
    • Analyzes historical sales data, current inventory, and existing templates to produce product pars and production plans for the bakers.
    • Models, trains, and coaches new and existing team members on recipes, systems, sanitation, and food safety.
    • Conducts regular check-ins and yearly performance reviews to ensure continued growth and excellence for the team.
    • Follows and ensures compliance of company systems and procedures, and works with the management team to improve these systems as necessary.
    • Measures and documents team member performance and compliance.
    • Holds team members accountable for job and station responsibilities.
      • Facilitates accurate ordering, receiving, labeling, storing, and FIFO-ing of all product inventory.
        • Works with the management team to plan holiday menus and execute holiday production and pick-up strategy.
        • Oversees quality control and takes necessary corrective steps to maintain product standards.
        • Develops and updates existing recipes as necessary and facilitates the R+D process with the team.
          • Ensures kitchen and workspaces are neat, clean, and sanitary, and complies with sanitation regulations and requirements.
            • Leads and participates actively in team meetings and events, and solicits active participation from the team.
            • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, go up and down stairs, and work standing for long periods of time.
