Position Title: Corporate Chef
Education Requirement: Secondary School Completion
Experience Required: 3–4 years of related culinary experience
Location: Vancouver, BC
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Chef oversees menu development, food preparation, and kitchen operations across the company. The role requires proven hands-on experience in Mediterranean, Greek, Turkish, and Middle Eastern cuisine and bakery, including traditional breads, pastries, grilled dishes, mezze, and specialty desserts.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Menu Development & Culinary Preparation

  • Assist in creating and improving menus focused on Mediterranean, Greek, Turkish, and Middle Eastern dishes.
  • Prepare authentic foods such as pita, pide, simit, börek, baklava, kunefe, kebabs, mezze, stews, and regional pastries.
  • Standardize recipes, portion sizes, and presentation methods.
  • Support development of bakery items and daily production schedules.

2. Kitchen Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen activities and ensure consistent quality of all dishes.
  • Monitor food preparation to ensure authenticity, taste, and presentation.
  • Assist in planning production for bakery and hot kitchen sections.
  • Maintain inventory of ingredients, spices, and supplies.

3. Staff Training & Supervision

  • Train cooks, assistants, and bakery staff on proper preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Provide direction and support during busy production periods.
  • Ensure all team members follow kitchen standards and safety protocols.

4. Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Follow and enforce all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ensure proper cleaning of workspaces, equipment, and utensils.
  • Comply with provincial food handling regulations.

5. Quality Control & Cost Management

  • Check final products for quality, consistency, and taste.
  • Help monitor portion control to reduce waste.
  • Support menu pricing and cost-control initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation

  • Secondary school education (required).
  • Food safety certification (an asset but not mandatory).

Experience

  • 3–4 years of experience in professional kitchens.
  • Hands-on experience in Mediterranean, Greek, Turkish, or Middle Eastern cooking and bakery.
  • Experience preparing breads, pastries, kebabs, stews, mezze, and traditional specialties.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of regional spices, dough preparation, grilling, and dessert techniques.
  • Ability to follow traditional recipes and maintain authenticity.
  • Good communication and team-leading skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and high-volume kitchen environments.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Fast-paced kitchen and bakery environment.
  • Early morning or late-evening shifts based on production needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.00-$42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
