At Powerloop we empower people Powerloop is an employee-owned Engineering Consulting firm serving Western Canada. We specialize in transportation and utility infrastructure projects. We provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for municipal, provincial, public utility and industrial sector clients.
Opportunity:
Reporting to the Principal, the Design Engineer will have an opportunity to make their mark on a number of municipal and provincial projects.
Responsibilities:
- To lead a small engineering team of designers and drafters, and work with other engineers.
- Designing Electrical, Streetlighting, Traffic Signal systems.
- Review and approve conceptual and detailed engineering design packages for assigned projects.
- Technical support to review shop drawings for engineered equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and codes.
- Lead projects from conception through construction and commissioning, including overseeing and mentoring junior engineers and designers
- Work closely with peers, other discipline engineers, and field staff to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility standards, industry standards, and owner requirements
- Design coordination with customers, municipal authorities, vendors, utilities & various project stakeholders
- Travel to site and liaise with customers, contractors, municipal authorities, and client representatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Professional engineer license in at least one Canadian Province.
- Proficiency in the following software is an asset.
- AutoCAD (2016 or newer)
- MicroStation (V8 or newer)
- SimTraffic
- VISSIM
- AGi32
- Understanding of traffic signal design and operational requirements.
- Understanding of streetlighting design requirements and IES design guides.
- Understanding and ability to produce designs compliant with CEC and client standards.
- Experience developing design drawings for infrastructure projects.
- Experience working on large, multi-disciplinary teams is an asset
- Be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision
- Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- Must have a valid Driver's License
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $44,455.96-$198,148.82 per year
