About
We are seeking a motivated Senior System Engineer to join the Lightspeed System Engineering team. This position will focus on System Simulation, Analysis, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Capella to support the development of system-level performance and architecture for a next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation network. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced systems engineers to capture, model, and analyze system behaviors and interfaces, directly contributing to the definition of the space, ground, and operations segments. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to satellite communications, MBSE practices, and end-to-end system design in a complex, multi-disciplinary engineering environment. Main Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain MBSE models in Capella, supporting the architecture of system-level components, functional breakdowns, interfaces, data flows, and exchange scenarios.
- Assist in defining and documenting interfaces, use cases, and system behaviors within the system architecture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (RF, software, networking, platform engineering) to incorporate technical inputs into the MBSE model.
- Develop and maintain system simulations to predict and track system performance using tools such as MATLAB.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive system architecture documentation, including subsystems definitions, interfaces, and data flows, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Participate in design reviews and working sessions, presenting model outputs and findings.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
- 1-5 years of proven experience in satellite system architecture and design.
- Strong knowledge of satellite systems, orbital mechanics, communications, and systems engineering concepts (requirements, functional analysis, interfaces, V-model).
- Experience with model-based system engineering methods in academic or project settings.
- Exposure to MBSE tools (Capella, MagicDraw, Cameo, Rhapsody, etc.) – Capella experience preferred.
- Programming or scripting ability (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for model data processing or analysis would be considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
