We are looking for a Controller to be a key partner to the Founder and CFO in developing a best-in-class finance and accounting function. The Controller will play an instrumental role in building the Episcope financial reporting structures and financial planning and analysis capabilities in support of our company's mission and growth. We expect that this is a leader who will build a team of appropriate size and ability to ensure the successful execution of Episcope's financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Consolidate and oversee financial reporting across all Episcope properties
- Ensure all basic financial and transactional processes are executed and accounted for appropriately (e.g. A/P, A/R, cash management/reconciliation, payroll & benefits, etc.)
- Ensure consistency in accounting policies and procedures at each location
- Prepare timely and accurate unit-level P&Ls with insights for distribution to management and partners
- Develop annual budgets for each property and the group overall
- Support operational leaders with performance metrics, cost controls, and P&L reviews
- Support the senior management team on strategic projects, including budgeting and forecasting for new location openings
- Develop and implement appropriate internal controls to ensure the integrity of cash management and the broader financial aspects of the business
- Establish SOPs for cash handling, POS reconciliation, procurement, etc.
- Conduct regular property-level audits and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, licensing, health & safety financial standards, and audit requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management (CPA a plus)
- 3+ years of finance / accounting experience in a similar role for a multi-unit restaurant or hospitality company
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and Toast POS; experience with other accounting / restaurant software platforms (e.g. Ottimate, Restaurant365, MarginEdge, etc.) a plus
- Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling, reporting and analysis
