In this role, y ou'll provide hands-on engineering expertise across new vessel construction, refits, and critical system upgrades—covering everything from power generation and distribution to automation, controls, and safety systems.

The Role
Reporting To The Senior Engineering Manager, Electrical And Automation, You Add Value And Are Energized By Key Areas Of Oversight Such As

  • Maintain ing effective relationships with regulatory agencies, including Transport Canada and Classification Societies regarding equipment survey requirements ;
  • Perform ing technical review of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for electrical power and control systems ;
  • Support ing troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical system failures or performance issues ;
  • Lead ing and support ing the development, design, and implementation of vessel electrical projects, with a focus on automation, control, and power systems ;
  • Provid ing engineering analysis and design review for new vessel construction, refits, and engineering changes on vessels for electrical power systems and control systems ;
  • Perform ing engineering support for issues with electrical systems, control systems, and machinery integration ;
  • Perform ing technical research and prepares detailed engineering reports, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis, evaluation of new technologies , forensic failure investigations, and participation in FMECA studies ;
  • Provid ing recommendations on electrical and electronics equipment selection and standardization ;
  • Provid ing technical review of specifications for contracted work during dry-docking or refit , as needed, the analysis of extras submitted by shipyards or contractors ;
  • Provid ing scope and quality inspections onboard vessels at shipyards and the inspection of materials and equipment on suppliers' premises ;
  • Overseeing contractors in the prepa ring detailed vessel condition reports, recommend ing refurbishment and ensur ing all records, documentation, and technical materials comply with policies and regulations.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical , Computer, or Electronics Engineering, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Registered Professional Engineer ( P.Eng ), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or eligible for registration as a P.Eng , or Registered Applied Science Technologist ( AScT ).
  • Experience in providing engineering services, theoretical and applied, for electrical power systems and control systems. Experience with marine systems projects is preferred
  • Experience with automation systems, including PLC-based alarm, monitoring, and control systems is preferred .

Additional Information
The target salary range: $83,500 - $104,300 per annum. The starting salary is determined bas ed on the successful candidate's knowledge, experience and internal equity.
