We are a small public accounting firm providing full public accounting services to small businesses and individuals primarily in Alberta. As an Accountant you will work closely with clients and all levels of team members to develop your technical skills and get immersed in our workflow procedures and standards. There is opportunity for upward movement and continual advancement within the firm.
Responsibilities
- Prepare year end compilation engagements
- Prepare personal and corporate tax returns, as well as GST returns
- Process T4's and payroll clients, as needed
- Assist with specialized tax and consulting projects
- As needed, preform bookkeeping tasks such as posting transactions, making corrections,
completing reconciliations, and client training
- Communicate with clients via phone and email
- Handle client meetings as needed
- Comfortable working with CRA to resolve and answer questions for clients
- Perform some administrative tasks as needed
- Work as a team player with your manager and colleagues
Qualifications
- University graduate with a degree in accounting or finance, with CPA Designation in Canada.
- Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a public accounting is a must have
- CRA audit experience a must, as well as GST returns
- Energetic work ethic to maintain a high level of productivity
- Comfortable using technology and learning new programs
- Experience with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) and other bookkeeping software programs,
Office 365, tax programs (ie. Taxcyle or Taxprep) and CaseWare
- Organized and pays close attention to detail
- Strong writing, listening and speaking skills
- Punctual and dependable
- Commitment to quality and constant improvement, with a willingness to learn and grow
- Ability to work independently in a fast pasted and growing company
- Resourceful with strong problem solving and time management skills
