WAGE RATE: $26.976 – $28.046

Reporting to the Manager, Perioperative & MDRD, and taking direction from the department coordinator, the attendant is a member of the Perioperative team assigned to work with the nurses and physicians to provide non-professional support within the Operating Room (OR) Suite, which includes the OR (Operating Room), PACU (Post Anaesthetic Care Unit) and DS (Day Surgery) environments. The incumbent assists other members of the team in preparation and maintenance of the surgery environment before, during and following the surgical procedure: maintains supplies and equipment in an aseptic environment, transports products and patients to the OR; assists in transferring and positioning of patients as well as housekeeping duties for the Peri-op areas.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of Surgical terminology
  • Ability to follow written and verbal job instructions and meet strict timelines
  • Willingness to participate in Healthy Moves training and demonstrate proper lifting technique
  • Knowledge of isolation procedures including routine practices and additional precautions
  • Utilizes effective communication skills as a member of the Perioperative team
  • Ability to wear the required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work all shifts within the OR Suite (which includes DS, OR & PACU)
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred

  • Six months recent OR attendant experience
