The Laurel School is a boutique early learning private school located in North York, ON, dedicated to providing enriched individualized programs for children from Toddler to Grade 3. SUMMARY OF ROLE
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team at The Laurel School part-time. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records and ensuring the accuracy of our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be proficient in QuickBooks. Your contributions will support our mission of fostering academic excellence and individual achievement.
SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Part-time position with flexible hours hours/week)

RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING)
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online/Desktop
- Process accounts payable and receivable.
- Record all transactions, create billing plans and invoices with QuickBooks and our student information system Brightwheel.
- Handle payroll, data entry and reconciliation; coordinate with the payroll service provider to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, and work with the time entries for hours worked of staff on BambooHR and WhenIWork software.
- Reconcile credit card statements monthly.
- Process transactions for families and more.
- Assist with creating tax receipts for families on an annual basis.
- Maintain proper filing of all financial documents.
- Overseeing and responding to financial correspondence via the designated finance email account.
- Using email, Slack, Google Drive and other methods for internal communication.
- Work closely with the school administrator, accountant, principal, vice principal, and directors.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
- Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) is required
- Proven bookkeeping experience, preferably in a private school or child care
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, self-starter, organizational skills and familiarity with the general principles of accounting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Experience with payroll.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff and management.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
