With over 40 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services, Associated Ambulance is proud to be the largest private  EMS operator in Alberta. We deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Inter Facility Transfer Services to 22 rural and 2 metro locations across Alberta.

Associated Ambulance is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Maintenance and Facilities Technician to join our organization. This vital role ensures our facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained; supporting a productive and efficient environment for staff. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, equipment, and grounds, ensuring all facilities remain safe and efficient.
  • Electrical experience or certification is considered a strong asset.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve facility issues, taking ownership of repairs whenever possible before engaging external vendors.
  • Identify facility deficiencies or hazards and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Respond to emergent maintenance concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain and repair basic building systems (e.g., lighting, minor plumbing, hardware, fixtures, etc.).
  • Coordinate and schedule specialized work with contractors and service providers when required, overseeing their performance to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Manage cleaning, security, and facility-related services with a hands-on, operational approach as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, and support budgeting for repairs and improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations across all facility operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for staff and stakeholders regarding facility needs and concerns.
  • Implement and document preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend facility lifespan.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and contracts.

Logistics

  • Monday to Friday
    • Occasional emergency after hours and weekend work may be required
  • Hours of work:
    • These hours are flexible and may vary dependent on travel
    • This is a salaried position with possibility of overtime 
  • The position will entail 50-75% travel across the province
  • A fleet vehicle will be provided for work travel purposes
  • Must have availability for overnight travel, sometimes for multiple days at a time per month 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in facility management, building maintenance, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) is an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management software.
  • Valid driver's license and clean abstract.
