POSITION OVERVIEW: As Construction Superintendent, you will manage the on-site execution of projects, to ensure that projects are completed according to project specifications, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with our standards for safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in various aspects of heavy-civil construction, including asphalt paving, road building, and service/drainage installations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate, schedule, supervise, and lead all onsite activities for heavy civil construction projects involving varying scopes of work.
- Monitor project progress, maintain requisite documentation/records, and coordinate with project manager regarding relevant issues and project progression.
- Interpret contract drawings, specifications and correspondence to achieve project intent and proactively resolve conflicts.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Coordinate and supervise relevant subcontractors, trades, and external suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards, environmental regulations, and corporate procedures.
- Daily quantity/production and cost reporting to direct supervisors and senior management, as required.
- Participate in employee recruitment, staffing, and training.
- Various other coordination and management functions, as necessary.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience managing heavy civil construction projects of varying scale and scope. Specifically experience with asphalt paving, grading, traffic control, and pipe installations is required.
- Strong working knowledge of construction process, OPSS specifications, OTM Book 7, and other relevant construction manuals.
- Experience with GPS and elevation layout equipment is an asset.
- Experience with equipment operation is an asset.
