About

Great opportunity We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineer to assist with day-to-day operations for our engineering department.

The role requires the ability to adapt and will include a variety of tasks with a focus on new product development and current products. The ideal candidate is hands on, thrives on detail and accuracy, able to manage their time, and able to take direction or take the lead. The successful candidate will leverage previous experience for the development and carrying out of a variety of challenging and new concept projects.

Benefits available after the 3 months probationary period.

Hours: Mon – Fri 7:30 AM – 4 PM

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products and improve current products
  • Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
  • Assist in generating working prototypes
  • Perform engineering calculations & simulations to support design work
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software (SolidWorks & Microsoft Office)
  • Developing and evaluating BOMs
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Help manage and supervise Co-Op students
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
  • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget
  • Participate in company cross-training program (as trainee and trainer)
  • Adheres to all company policies & procedures, health and safety policies & procedures, regulations & standards and quality standards
  • Commit to and participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods
  • Receive training on the use of new software as it is added to the environment, On-going training to improve in areas such as time management and specific job skill upgrading may be required
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned
  • Work with minimal supervision

Skills and Qualifications (General requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or mechatronic engineering
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working as a mechanical engineer
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
  • Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
  • Experience using CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, ability to read electrical diagrams
  • Good understanding of electrical & control systems
  • Understanding of machine operations
  • Experience in working and/or designing heat exchangers, boilers, food equipment, sheet metal products (asset)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
