As a Mill Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the safe, organized, and productive operation of Mill Operations. The Mill Supervisor will provide directions and resources to the department staff while ensuring that activities are carried out and documented properly, safely, and in accordance with all policies and food safety standards.
DutiesResponsibilities:
- Ensure the organization, workflow and productivity of all milling operations is completed and maintained at all times
- Responsible for strong training, leadership and guidance to the members of the milling operation
- Must be knowledgeable of all areas of the milling operation that includes but is not limited to, kiln system, colour sorters, and Q-sorters
- Responsible for maximizing mill yields and recommend and evaluate modifications of equipment and process flows
- Supervise and prioritize shift activities
- Knowledgeable in the operation, monitoring, and testing processes of the kiln and metal detector as a preventative control measure
- Communicate effectively with team members across departments to ensure seamless operations
- Support sanitation duties and maintain a clean, food-safe working environment
- Act as a team member by helping other departments as needed
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Previous experience in a grain milling or processing environment is an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and maintain complex milling equipment.
- Possess strong knowledge and /or understanding of all areas of the mill
- Ability to recognize off-spec product characteristics (e.g., color, size, odor) through visual and sensory inspection.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to supervise and lead effectively within a collaborative team
- Organizational and decision-making abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced, dusty, hot, cold, and noisy environment.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving machinery (PPE provided).
- Strong commitment to teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Hours of work
This position will be working 12-hr Modified shift schedule, including Weekend and night shifts.
