Overview

The Casual Staff will demonstrate competence and dedication to the care and education of children ages 0-12 by providing coverage during the absence of an employee. All aspects of the Casual Staff position will be performed while working within the framework of the vision, mission and value statements and the policies and procedures of Dutton Child Care Centre, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice , the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 , the Child Care Centre Licensing Manual and How Does Learning Happen? . The Casual Staff is someone who is flexible and jumps in to any program where they may be required with enthusiasm and reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Management

· Responsible for direct supervision of children enrolled in the Child Care program and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.

· Support in creating and executing engaging, inclusive, and child led environments that foster every child's learning and development.

· Support and participate in all aspects of routines and transitions.

· Participate in indoor and outdoor activities with the children.

· Develop an understanding of the policies and procedures of Dutton Child Care Centre, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 , the Child Care Centre Licensing Manual and How Does Learning Happen?

· Develop an understanding of positive and consistent approaches towards behaviour guidance following the policies, practices and philosophy of the Dutton Child Care Centre and in accordance to the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and implement.

Team Building and Communication

· Build and maintain caring, responsive, inclusive relationships with and between co-workers, children, families and the community.

· Participate in the daily exchange of information about children's progress and the program to colleagues and parents.

· Problem solve to quickly make decisions regarding health and safety all in compliance with Dutton Child Care Centre policies and procedures and the CCEYA and clearly communicate with colleagues and the leadership team.

· Understand child growth and development and join in on Professional Development opportunities where possible.

Qualifications

· Preference given to those with their ECE Diploma and in good standing with the College of ECE's, Child and Youth Care Diploma, Recreation and Leisure Diploma, Teachers College/Concurrent Education students, and those pursuing education in the above fields.

· Experience working with children ages 0-12 preferred

· Must hold a current First Aid and CPR Certificate from a recognized provider or be willing to complete this within two months of employment

· Must have satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check from within six months or be willing to complete this upon employment

· Up to date immunizations

Wage

$18.01 per hour plus $2 WEG for a total package of $20.01 per hour.
