Job Title: Bartender / Facility Attendant
Location: Port Arthur Curling Centre (Thunder Bay, ON)
Position Type: Part-Time (Evening and Weekend Availability Required)

About Us:
The Port Arthur Curling Centre is a member-based curling club with a welcoming, community-focused environment. We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and professional Bartender who enjoys working with people and can independently manage bar operations, facility opening/closing, and basic administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Opening & Closing

  • Open and close the facility according to scheduled hours
  • Secure the building by checking doors and setting the alarm
  • Ensure all areas are cleared and no members remain in the building
  • Turn on/off all interior lights as appropriate at start and end of shift

Bar & Customer Service

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to members and guests
  • Check identification and ensure responsible alcohol service (monitor intoxication levels)
  • Prepare and serve drinks (including garnishes such as lemons, limes, celery)
  • Change pop/juice/COâ‚‚ containers as needed
  • Make coffee for functions; operate popcorn machine and clean after use
  • Restock beer, liquor, mix, ice, and miscellaneous bar items throughout the shift
  • Perform general bar cleaning and maintain a tidy and safe work area
  • Assist with waitressing / table service when floor staff are unavailable

Inventory & Ordering

  • Maintain accurate inventory control and restocking procedures
  • Order beer, liquor, and supplies weekly or as required
  • Balance cash floats and complete coin orders for bank pickup

Administration & Financial Handling

  • Accept, record, and issue receipts for membership dues, ice rentals, bonspiels, and miscellaneous revenue
  • Process payments and withdrawals via interac machine as required
  • Accept and count money from draws; distribute winnings and Calcutta payouts
  • Sign part-time staff timesheets during your shift
  • Provide reimbursement payouts for staff and director expenses where applicable

Staff Support & Facility Maintenance

  • Train new floor staff when assigned
  • Arrange maintenance or repair service calls (walk-in cooler, dishwasher, ice machine, etc.)
  • Perform dishwasher cleaning and bar garbage removal nightly
  • Open and close league and bonspiel lists as directed by the Board or committees

Qualifications

  • Smart Serve Certification (Required)
  • First Aid / CPR (Preferred)
  • WHMIS Training (Preferred)
  • Previous bartending or hospitality experience is an asset
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage bar operations with minimal supervision
  • Must be available for evenings and weekends during the curling season
