About the Position:

This Dining Room Server is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and providing catering services, ensures work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition. The Server will also assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors and other staff members. As this is a retirement residence, all servers are deemed Essential Workers and so are guaranteed their jobs regardless of current restrictions. Full time and part time hours available.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Prepares food for serving to residents and guests;

· Ensures resident and guest satisfaction with meal service;

· Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef;

· Performs the set-up, serving and tear down services at meal times and booked catering events;

· Effectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner. Projects an appropriate image and focuses on customer service excellence;

· Ensures used dishes as well as utensils are washed and sorted

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Previous food services experience in a retirement residence, long term care

· residence or other hospitality environment;

· Completion of secondary school education or equivalent;

· Food Safe Level 1 Certificate is preferred;

· Smart Serve Certificate is preferred;

· Ability to clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) is required;

· Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.48 per hour
