Sanitation Supervisor

Reports to: Senior Manager, Facilities & Engineering

Team size: 10–15 staff across two shifts (smaller afternoon shift)

About the Role

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the sanitation program across the facility and ensuring all production, processing, and common areas meet internal quality expectations and applicable regulatory standards. This role oversees two shifts of sanitation associates, provides hands-on support, implements cleaning SOPs, and maintains compliance with GPP and Health Canada requirements. The Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and inspection-ready environment across all operational areas.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 10–15 sanitation associates across two shifts, including scheduling, task delegation, and daily workflow oversight.
  • Conduct attendance tracking, performance reviews, coaching, and corrective actions as required.
  • Deliver training programs for new staff and ensure ongoing competency with sanitation SOPs, PPE use, and safe work practices.
  • Support a positive team culture focused on reliability, consistency, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee and participate in cleaning and sanitization of production, processing, and facility areas following established SOPs.
  • Ensure all sanitation tasks are completed accurately, on time, and documented according to GPP and Health Canada expectations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of work completed, identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain documentation for Health Canada, including logs, sanitation reports, and deviation follow-up.
  • Reinforce all Health & Safety requirements, including PPE adherence, chemical handling, and safe equipment use.
  • Participate in the development, review, and continuous improvement of sanitation SOPs, checklists, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Facilities, Production, and Maintenance teams to ensure sanitation activities support operational needs and regulatory compliance.
  • Support investigations related to sanitation deviations, contamination risks, pest control findings, or inspection observations.

Other

  • Support pest control activities in collaboration with Facilities and external contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • 2–4 years of experience in sanitation within manufacturing, food production, greenhouse, or regulated environments (GMP/GPP experience is an asset).
  • Experience leading or supervising a team in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Strong understanding of SOP-driven environments and strict documentation requirements.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and oversee workloads for a multi-shift team.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in various environmental conditions.
