Location & Team Gatherings
Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We've been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office – we are any and all of those options Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.
About This Role
As part of Intersect's Engineering team, you'll gain hands-on experience designing, analyzing, and optimizing large-scale energy systems across solar (PV), battery storage (BESS), and wind technologies. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers to develop system models, automate workflows, standardize processes, and help deliver reliable, efficient project designs.
This Co-Op position will rotate across the various Engineering Departments (PV, BESS, Wind, HV, etc) and will report to Engineering Team Leads within each discipline within Intersect's Engineering Team. The role is planned to start in May 2026, with a 3-month training period designed to build technical and professional skills ahead of full project engagement by August 2026.
Team Overview
The Engineering team is at the heart of how Intersect turns complex ideas into real, scalable projects that move the energy industry forward. As the technical backbone of the EPC organization, the team is responsible for ensuring every project we build is designed to perform—safely, efficiently, and with long-term value in mind. We work closely with Development, Procurement, and Project Delivery teams to translate project concepts into optimized designs that balance performance, cost, and reliability. Our engineers thrive on solving big, technical challenges while maintaining a spirit of collaboration and curiosity. Joining this team means contributing to work that defines what's next for large-scale energy infrastructure and building the foundation for a cleaner future.

Support System Design and Analysis
•Assist in the design and performance modeling of PV, BESS, and wind power systems
•Conduct energy yield estimates to forecast system output and optimize design configurations
•Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to the creation of engineering documentation and specifications
•Support evaluation of new product offerings from technology suppliers
Automate and Streamline Workflows
•Develop and automate analysis and reporting tools using Python, VBA, or other scripting languages
•Contribute to database creation for early-stage project designs and energy modeling
•Improve workflow tracking, data organization, and version control within engineering processes
Collaborate and Learn Cross-Functionally
•Engage with cross-functional teams to gain insight into commercial, project management, and technical decision-making
•Identify and raise potential design challenges, proposing data-driven solutions
•Support GIS analyses for site buildability and resource assessment
Contribute to Optimization Studies
•Partner with commercial teams to run performance and optimization studies across different offtake structures and technologies
•Use simulation tools (such as PVsyst, PVWatts, or SAM) to evaluate system efficiency and performance trade-offs
What You'll Bring
•Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
•Strong foundation in Python, VBA, Matlab, or similar scripting languages
•Understanding of energy system modeling, data analysis, or optimization principles
•Familiarity with tools such as PVsyst, SAM, PVWatts, Google Earth Pro, or GIS platforms
•Comfort working in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and remote-forward environment
