Location: San Mateo, CA

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team developing the next-generation cross-platform mobile application. You will collaborate with Product Management, Architects, Engineering, and Operations to shape the UI of mobile apps, applying best practices for fluid, performant, and extensible experiences. You will participate in product roadmaps, identify improvement areas, and incorporate these into development initiatives.

You should be an experienced manager with strong leadership, technical expertise, industry knowledge, and excellent communication skills. A proven track record in building and leading talented engineering teams to deliver outstanding Android features, UI frameworks, and innovative solutions is essential.

Responsibilities: Manage a team of experienced software engineers, providing mentorship and support to help them achieve their goals. Drive research, development, and implementation of Android features, UI frameworks, and high-performance UI solutions. Collaborate with technical leads, engineers, and project managers to plan and set goals. Lead mobile app development using Agile methodologies like Scrum, delivering iterative improvements. Engage with international stakeholders to ensure solutions meet customer needs and create engaging mobile experiences. Identify performance bottlenecks and develop solutions to enhance customer satisfaction. Promote a culture of research, innovation, and continuous learning within the team. Foster a strong team culture, morale, and cohesion. Support technical leads by ensuring access to necessary tools and resources. Align team objectives with organizational goals and the company's mission. Conduct staff appraisals, support individual growth, and manage risks. Handle administrative tasks such as approving holidays, purchases, and expenses. Required Qualifications: Passion for creating seamless, intuitive user experiences emphasizing usability and performance. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience in interactive entertainment, computer graphics, UI frameworks, or Android applications. Strong people management skills, including goal setting, appraisals, and staff development. Experience coaching and fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment. Proven project management skills with Agile methodologies such as Scrum. Experience taking projects from requirements to global product launch. Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and collaboration. Ability to lead UI and application performance optimization efforts. Proficiency in Android development (Java/Kotlin, Android Studio). Understanding of mobile architectures and trends, including emerging technologies. Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React/React Native or Angular. Experience developing multi-threaded applications with concurrency considerations.
