Our client is an established mechanical and electrical contractor based in North Essex. They specialise in residential new build schemes throughout London and the South East with projects ranging from small housing developments to 300+ unit sites including high rise blocks of multi-occupancy.
In their 25 years of trading, they have worked with a range of contractors including one off larger developers to some of the countries largest house builders.
They are now looking for Senior Design Engineer with a mechanical bias but ideally with some electrical knowledge, there is the potential to move into a Design Managers role and
ideally they are looking for a candidate who would want to take this managerial direction.
The Design Engineer position is 'hands on' and will involve a heavy design involvement, as well as integrating with company estimators on new and existing projects. Candidates will need to demonstrate a broad knowledge of the new homes industry and will need to have obtained design experience in a variety of sectors, including bespoke housing, multi residential and commercial. The position is mechanically biased, candidates will however, need to demonstrate a basic understanding of electrical systems and the design principles involved. This is a permanent position with strong career prospects.
Location Whilst based in the North Essex office the Design Engineer may be required to travel to site on occasion and therefore, a full driving licence is essential.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a 10 years design experience within the building services industry and
will come from a consultant or contracting background .
Candidates should be qualified to HNC standard as a minimum.
Attributes / Skills
Delivering an integrated design in accordance with the design programme.
Managing team design quality in accordance with company QA policies.
Building strong individual relationships and team spirit, lead by example.
Provide an effective interface with senior management, other team principles and departments within the business.
Take a leading role in achieving a high level of technical competence within the design department.
Represent the company at post tender meetings etc.
Investigate and evaluate new methods and technologies, support / mentor trainees and other team members, take a pro-active approach to customer satisfaction.
