Job Description Job Title: Automation Test Engineer Location:  Hybrid (West Midlands) Clearance: Must be eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance (Requires continuous UK residency for the last 5 years and no absences over 28 days in that period) Role Purpose Our Technology Division has been trusted for more than a decade to deliver mission-critical digital development projects to a range of industries around the world. Our projects cover the entire delivery lifecycle from capturing initial business requirements, through to code development, QA activities , all the way through to release and ongoing production support.  The Automation Test Engineer will join agile delivery teams (typically 4 to 8 engineers) working across diverse technology stacks. In this hands-on role, you’ll support testing initiatives, including automation, performance, and penetration testing, while contributing to the full testing lifecycle from design to defect resolution. You’ll help define and uphold technical standards, mentor junior testers, and ensure high-quality outcomes for both internal and client-facing projects. Eligibility for UK SC clearance is required, though existing clearance is a plus. As Automation Test Engineer, you will embody these values in your leadership, decision-making, and client interactions. Key Responsibilities •  Work to established test automation standards and develop solutions (enhance and create) •  Detailed test analysis and test design for complex/heavily integrated systems in regulated environments •  Applying TDD/BDD methodologies and risk-based testing •  Support CI/CD pipelines and shift-left quality practices •  Adhere to quality engineering best practices •  Perform assurance and testing across all levels (Unit, Component, CIT, System, Integration, E2E, NFR, support UAT/BAT) •  When required, contribute to analysis of business requirements •  Manage test data and testing collateral •  Participate in development through pair-programming Skill and Experience  •  Working closely to policies, standards and guidelines that support the development and use of Information Technology within at enterprise scale. •  Extensive experience in and knowledge of techniques, tools and technologies associated with the development of automated test suites. •  In depth experience of iterative-based deliveries •  Experience of Continuous Integration. •  Prioritisation of own workload according to priority and required project delivery dates. •  CI/CD pipelines •  Software testing expertise •  Git/GitLab proficiency •  Strong communication and coaching abilities •  Quality-focused mindset •  Stakeholder management •  Exposure to and an understanding of some of the following is highly desirable: o  JUnit o  Playwright o  Selenium o  Cucumber o  Postman o  Gatling o  OWASP Zap o  Docker/Kubernetes o  Azure/AWS o  WCAG/Wave/Axe Personal Characteristics   •  Outstanding track record of leading and developing all areas of testing, with demonstrable success in previous roles. •  Very high attention to detail coupled with a focus on quality. •  The ability to work well both on an individual basis and within a team. •  Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate activities and to handle multiple tasks. •  Driven, energetic and enthusiastic, with a ‘can do, will do’ approach. •  Flexibility to travel to customer sites when required, to present to and engage with customer staff.
