Next Play Nation is a nonprofit sports organization dedicated to creating opportunities for athletes through exposure, development, and competition. Our flagship program, the Next Play Nation Basketball League (NPNB), is a FIBA-style developmental league that provides athletes with high-level competition while connecting them to professional and collegiate opportunities.
Position Overview
The Chief Marketing & Media Officer (CMMO) will be a key leader in shaping the public face of the NPNB. This role is responsible for driving the league's marketing, branding, and media strategies to maximize exposure for athletes, engage fans, and strengthen sponsor relationships. The CMMO will oversee content creation, social media presence, digital strategy, and media partnerships, ensuring that the league maintains a professional and consistent image aligned with our nonprofit mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead marketing campaigns to build the NPNB brand and grow its audience
- Oversee social media platforms, digital content, and storytelling to highlight athletes and the league
- Manage media partnerships, press relations, and broadcast/streaming initiatives
- Collaborate with the business team to support sponsorship activations and fan engagement
- Create consistent branding across all platforms (game-day materials, website, merchandise, etc.)
- Track and analyze marketing performance to guide future strategies
Qualifications
- Strong interest in sports marketing, media, and brand development
- Excellent communication, creative, and leadership skills
- Experience managing social media, content creation, or media relations
- Ability to work collaboratively with league executives and external partners
- Prior experience in sports, marketing, or nonprofit promotion is a plus
