Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee food safety and sanitation performance for retail food service establishments
  • Implement strategies to drive continuous improvement across assigned area(s)
  • Conduct routine inspections of franchise locations to determine compliance with SSOP, store requirements, and state and local laws
  • Educate operators during routine visits on food safety, internal policies, and operational procedures
  • Conduct investigations into reported matters of product quality, food service operation compliance and related categories
  • Lead Food Safety Training/Discussion sessions with operators and partners
  • Support, develop, and maintain alliances with regulatory and industry partners
  • Coordinate, present/participate in Food Safety Refresher trainings.
  • Support new store openings with respect to preparation for regulatory inspections and compliance alignment.
  • Support with other food safety program needs such as, but not limited to, variance submissions, recall activities, temperature/product studies, etc.
  • Monitor, and report, regulatory legislation updates specific to areas of coverage.
  • Oher job related functions as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related science/discipline (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Public Health, Environmental Health, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Public or Environmental Health with an emphasis in Food Protection
  • Working knowledge of food safety legislation specific to the following provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario
  • Fluent with HACCP
  • Professional, articulate and team oriented
  • Diligent and highly organized
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; be able to converse calmly and effectively during crisis situations
  • Ability to travel by car and air, up to 75%
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Ability to adapt and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and execute projects diligently
  • CPHI(C) or CP-FS Certification is desired
  • Driver license in good standing

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
