About Coinbase Design We are a tight knit team of designers and researchers. We value low-ego collaboration and balancing rigorous product thinking with thoughtfully crafted experiences. As a close partner to Product and Engineering, Coinbase Design team plays a critical role in executing on the company vision. We take on hard user experience problems to deliver delightful and easy-to-use products from very complex technical challenges. You will help design our flagship products for the largest user base in crypto and define user experiences for entirely new features that the ecosystem has not seen before.

Role Overview You will lead the design team for the Coinbase Developer Platform, aiming to be the best onchain developer platform, enabling millions of developers to easily and securely build blockchain applications for billions of users. Our customers range from financial institutions new to crypto to native startups building innovative apps. We provide wallets, blockspace, data infrastructure, and testing resources, all backed by Coinbase's infrastructure. We are a small, fast-moving team.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of 3-5 Product Designers focused on developer experiences.

Identify blockers, opportunities, and improvements proactively within the team’s product area.

Participate in all decision-making phases for your product area, including planning, strategy, QA, analysis, and retrospectives.

Collaborate cross-functionally to shape product vision and strategy.

Allocate resources effectively for current and upcoming projects.

Mentor and support the growth of other designers.

Design and implement efficient working processes for your team.

Organize and document multiple projects and team workflows.

Requirements

3+ years of experience leading design teams.

Experience designing developer tools and recruiting designers for developer audiences.

Strong mentorship, technical skills, and experience setting creative direction for web and mobile products.

Excellent UX, visual design, and communication skills.

Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools.

Experience conducting user research studies.

Low ego, collaborative, open-minded, and passionate about crypto.

Nice to Haves

Familiarity with the web3 ecosystem.

Technical degree (Computer Science or Engineering).

Previous programming experience.

Crypto experience, including onchain activity familiarity.
