*About Us:*
The Asthma & Allergy Center is looking for a full-time Physician Assistant. Recent graduates and seasoned veterans are both encouraged to apply. We have a well-established practice which has been in business for over 75 years. The practice was founded in 1947 and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all asthmatic and allergic conditions. We are the largest and oldest practice in the area and believe strongly in treating our patients and employees like family. We have a loyal patient following, encompassing infants through the elderly. The practice has employed PAs and NPs for years.
*Schedule: *
Daytime office hours with no weekends or holidays. Flexible scheduling options are available. The candidate we select will work a 4.5 day schedule which includes working 2.5 days in our Roanoke office and 2 days in our Lynchburg office. You will occasionally be asked to fill in for other providers who are out of the office or as coverage is needed. Two weeks of on call/emergency pager duty rotates between all of our full-time providers. You would have 2 weeks of on call time every other month. On call duties are minimal and handled by speaking with patients who have called our emergency pager service via telephone. Typically in a 2 week period, the on call provider would need to respond to 1 to 5 patients via telephone.
*Training: *
The qualified candidate will train on the job in both our Lynchburg and Roanoke locations as you will shadow along with our practice owner, Dr. Saju Eapen, MD. to learn the role. Our PA will be trained in specialized skills such as spirometry, skin testing, allergy injections, asthma /allergy care and immune dysfunction management. You will learn to provide evaluations and treatment for patients suffering from various allergic diseases including Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Food Allergy, Hives, Drug Allergy, Allergic skin conditions, Bee Sting Allergy, Immunodeficiencies etc.

*Qualifications:*
* Recent work experience as a Physician’s Assistant is preferred.
* Virginia PA license must be in hand or in process, with active DEA license.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Willingness to be trained to ensure that protocols are followed and EMR documentation is accurate.
* Ability to build rapport with patients and staff members.
* Previous experience in Allergy & Immunology or ENT is a plus
*Responsibilities:*
* You would see approximately 12 to 16 patients per day initially during your training and credentialling period. You patient load will increase to 17-20 patients per day once training is completed.
* Perform physical examinations of patients and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
* Follow protocols for charting into our EMR system and complete your notes within 24 hours.
* Communicate with collaborating physicians regarding patient care.
* Prescribe all necessary medications and treatment.
* Supervising allergy testing, Allergy Injections, food challenges, medication challenges and oral immunotherapy
