Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee our culinary operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and hospitality, coupled with strong leadership skills to manage kitchen staff effectively. This role is essential in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly, maintaining high standards of food quality and safety while providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Duties

  • Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Food preparation, cooking techniques, and proper food handling practices.
  • Manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
  • Develop and implement menus that align with seasonal offerings and child nutrition.
  • Prepares shopping lists for groceries.
  • Keeps track of pantry inventory.
  • Completes kitchen laundry weekly and other daycare laundry.
  • Cleans kitchen daily (e.g., counter tops and sweeping).
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Handle parent inquiries and feedback regarding menus and food restrictions/
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.
  • Responsible for washing and sterilizing the dishes used throughout the day.

When working in the classroom, the Kitchen Manager/Floater must:

  • Support the lead educator in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that cater to the needs and interests of children aged 18 months to 7 years.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
  • Jointly with the lead educator, keep children safe and healthy, including enforcing classroom rules, changing diapers, cleaning up after meals etc.
  • Engage actively with children during playtime, activities, and routines, promoting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Care for children (diaper change, clean up, etc)
  • Assist in the preparation of materials, resources, and learning aids to support lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Assists classrooms with laundry duties.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year working as cook or chef and cooking for large groups. Working in a childcare setting, preschool, or early childhood education program is an asset.
  • Hard working and punctual
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Clearance of criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must have Food Handlers Certification.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
