Design Manager
to join the Egis Transport Solutions Team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex high-speed and conventional rail projects. As a Design Manager, you will be a senior team member supporting the Project Director, leading engineering teams in the UK and internationally to deliver track design. We are looking for someone dedicated, diligent, and driven to take on this challenge as part of a dynamic team with ambitious goals. Your responsibilities will include: Providing clear vision and direction by leading a high-performing team through effective management, development, and empowerment of staff. Managing internal and external resources to produce outputs aligned with contract requirements and client expectations. Maintaining control over project programs, analyzing supply chain schedules, and developing mitigation strategies. Managing CEM and CREs (or equivalents) to ensure compliance with HS2 and Network Rail standards. Ensuring high standards in design deliverables, promoting a get-it-right-first-time culture. Reviewing design documentation proactively to mitigate construction risks during the design phase. Overseeing the production of design drawings, calculations, reports, and documentation in accordance with British Standards & Eurocodes across various project stages. Managing the coordination of design information in a 3D BIM environment. Collaborating with external design organizations and parties, including the Principal Contractor. Managing CDM and CSM-REA processes to ensure risks are mitigated to ALARP. Producing and maintaining design trackers. Qualifications Essential: Degree in Engineering Membership in an engineering institute with Engineering Council Professional Registration Extensive experience in engineering/technical functions, particularly in design management within the rail industry Proven capability in managing rail project designs, especially in multidisciplinary environments Strong understanding of Track Systems from technical, design, installation, buildability, and maintenance perspectives Experience working on complex design and build projects, including joint ventures Excellent knowledge of rail engineering standards/regulations (HS2, Network Rail, CDM, CSM, RIR) Experience in multidisciplinary design coordination and delivering high-quality projects throughout all design stages Experience in engineering production environments Proficiency with 3D models in a BIM environment Desirable: Knowledge of railway infrastructure, systems, and operations Membership of PWI Knowledge of British Standards, Rail Standards, and regulations (Network Rail, HS2, TfL) Understanding of NEC contracts and project communication You must have the right to work in the UK Additional Information We are committed to our planet.
