Your Role:
Reporting to the Head of Residence, the Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the Maitland Street facilities of NBS in a neat, clean and sanitary environment; laundering and ironing clothes, linen and furnishings and completing related tasks as assigned by the Head of Residence.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain daily cleanliness of Maitland Street Facilities, including bedrooms, offices, and common areas of the Residence by mopping floors, dusting furniture, vacuuming, cleaning door/window glass, removing and replacing garbage bags, cleaning up spills; also includes the annual and irregular cleaning tasks (i.e., washing drapes, complete cleaning of rooms, polishing furniture, doorknobs, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness of the Residence washrooms by following procedures and schedules, replenishing washroom supplies
- Perform laundry services for NBS Residence students by operating laundry equipment; washing, ironing and folding clothes, linen, furnishings, etc.; provide laundry care for Food Services, Facilities, and other NBS Departments as required
- Support an efficient Housekeeping system by maintaining inventory of cleaning and laundry supplies, and by reporting problems such as damaged equipment/repair needs promptly to the immediate supervisor
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
- All other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year's cleaning and laundry experience in an institutional environment, preferably in an educational institution
- Completion of Grade 10
- Gross motor skills are required when handling garbage bags, mopping and cleaninng floors and glass and polishing furniture
- Communication skills to understand and execute instructions of superiors and understand colleagues, staff and students
- Knowledge of cleaning practices, cleaning agents, laundry procedures, health & safety requirements
