GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Packing Supervisor is accountable for the operation and management of the Chilliwack Packing Department. Including managing staff, achieving Production and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets, minimizing unplanned downtime, root-cause failure analysis, inventory management and coordinating maintenance activities. In this capacity, the incumbents' responsibility is to ensure all finished goods are packed efficiently and safely while following all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ยท Maximize production efficiency by implementing and achieving KPI targets

  • Ensure production standards align with customer needs and meet all Product Liability/Quality Assurance and critical control point (CCP) requirements.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvements (CI) methodologies to solve equipment, product and production issues.
  • Manage the rerun and PHR inventories in a timely manner.
  • Coordination with the Maintenance Manager in developing a preventive & predictive maintenance schedule
  • Coordination with the Warehouse Supervisor to align production schedule and warehouse space.
  • Responsible for the consistent sanitation and cleanliness of the packing equipment, packing room and palletizer areas
  • Provide feedback to employees on job performance and maintain a positive working culture
  • Create packing M.O.'s and license plates
  • Work with the packaging vendor to address defective bag or quality issues
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new operational or quality control procedures as required
  • Trains staff on all new standard operating procedures (SOP's) and internal documentation changes
  • Participates as a member of the Food Safety Team
  • Undertakes special assessments as assigned by the Plant Manager as required.
  • Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability
  • Compliance with WorkSafe BC and company safety standards
  • Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed and enforced
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) while performing all job duties and tasks
  • Understanding the Warehouse Management System and its functions
  • Responsible for all inventories, finished goods and packaging
  • Take part in associated audits
  • Responsible for evaluating staff and employee performance management

REQUIREMENTS:

ยท 5 yrs manufacturing and high-speed packaging experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team by utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to achieve production targets
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of computer-based applications, including D365, Master Planning, Warehouse Management and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Available for shift work as well as work on weekends, holidays and call outs as required
