The mission of Amadeus’ Hotel IT team is to design and deliver high performance systems that can process tens of thousands of requests per second and return the highest level of accuracy in the fastest response time. Utilizing our proven ability to build and deploy mission critical software for the global travel industry, we are creating the next generation of technology solutions for the hospitality industry including: reservations and distribution, high-volume data acquisition from heterogeneous sources, sophisticated search engines, payment processing, hotel operations, business intelligence, and revenue management. The Amadeus Hotel Platform is a SOA solution delivering a fully centralized reservation system for large hotel chains. New customer needs will require evolution of the platform.

Purpose

The functional architect is a functional expert responsible for the design of solutions for our customers, ensuring consistency with Amadeus product vision.
You are the bridge between the customer facing teams/product managers and the internal Amadeus development teams. You participate in customer calls when detailed knowledge is needed.
You can be involved during various phases of customer programs (pre-sales, discovery, high level solutioning, detailed solutioning, ...).

Candidate enjoys mixing business acumen and technical knowledge, is skilled at managing stakeholders, understanding customer requirements from a business and a functional/technical perspective, balancing the need of Amadeus against customer demands, designing solutions, communicating and coordinating with internal teams.

Scope of current position is Hotel IT Central Reservation Systems.

Your Main Responsibilities

Common accountabilities:

  • Interact with Product Managers or directly with the customers to ensure a full understanding of the business needs and customer constraints. Combine focus on customer expectations and integration of Amadeus strategy for any proposal.

  • Be responsible for the design of solutions, at the platform or application level, coordinating with all the necessary teams to reach an agreement, ensuring solution consistency cross-projects, cross-applications, ensuring all gaps are identified and dependencies tracked.

  • Lead studies, analyze cross functional requirements, and other cross-organization, cross-functional solutions by interacting with all stakeholders (including architects, technical and functional experts, delivery teams).

  • Understand how functions work and promote cross-business synergies and Amadeus vision via solution recommendations.

  • Understand how main business drivers may impact on own area. Can assess complex problems with broad impact on the activity, improve processes, recommend solutions and risk mitigation plans. Able to communicate complex information.

  • Contribute to break vision down into achievable actions while keeping global consistency and feasibility over areas.

  • Communicate progress on solutions and agreements at any stage of the mission within the core team.

  • Document and present solution recommendations to all stakeholders during solution review forums, with the ability to explain complex technical information in simple ways to a diverse audience.

  • Handover the solution, when validated, to the R&D teams when entering development phase.

  • Share knowledge and collaborate with diverse people (customer, to functional or technical profiles).

Specific accountabilities:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (Functional architect, Solution Definition Manager, designing solutions in an architectural/development role).

  • Full professional proficiency in English is required. French would be a plus.

  • Experience in Amadeus hospitality or the hospitality industry is a strong plus.

  • Adaptability & Flexibility, problem solving, analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with all the stakeholders, including the customers, to communicate complex information.

  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy, based on management directions.

  • Ability to lead projects or contribute to broad cross-functional projects.

  • Good knowledge of the Amadeus business would be appreciated.

  • Engineering degree, 7+ years of professional experience.
