Join us as a Senior Data Scientist in our Advanced Analytics Team at Axpo, where you will play a pivotal role in advancing the Data Analytics and Machine Learning capabilities within our Trading and Sales Business. As an integral member of our motivated team, you will closely collaborate with cross-functional professionals to drive the development and implementation of innovative data solutions.

What you will do:
  • Design, implement, and operate advanced data solutions within a professional cloud-based analytics framework to enhance the efficiency and profitability of our energy trading activities.
  • Collaborate closely with trading desks to understand emerging challenges and deliver data-driven insights through market analysis, statistical modeling, and optimization methods.
  • Apply state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to optimize trading strategies and decision-making processes, including explainers and drift methodologies to assess model accuracy and reliability.
  • Engage proactively in insight creation using backtesting and scenario analysis, translating them into impactful business opportunities.
  • Utilize data visualization and storytelling techniques to effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Shape and expand the Advanced Analytics use case portfolio across Europe.
  • Collaborate with an international team of Data Engineers and Scientists in a dedicated data environment.
What you bring & who you are:
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience with machine learning algorithms and time series analysis, applied to data-driven trading strategies or decision-making processes.
  • Strong conceptual skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences to promote and democratize Advanced Analytics use cases in energy trading.
  • Ability to prototype ideas, perform critical analysis, and use pragmatic approaches to solve complex tasks while effectively translating business requirements into actionable plans for successful implementation.
  • High proficiency in Python and query languages such as SQL.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Familiarity with MLOps best practices, including the deployment, monitoring, and management of models running in production.
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset, open to collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Proficient in English.
