*Position Overview: *
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented pharmacist to join our team as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of staff to compound a variety of medications, including (but not limited to) non-sterile and hazardous preparations, in accordance with regulatory standards and best practices. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical compounding techniques, a commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
*Responsibilities: *
*Day-to-Day Operations: *
* Lead and oversee the daily operations of the organization, ensuring the achievement of manufacturing goals in alignment with current and future organizational needs.
* Oversee growing team of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Techs, as well as additional support staff as assigned.
* Monitor and manage compounding practices, technology, records keeping, facilities, and engineering controls.
* Manage operations of pharmacy with average volume of over 5,000/month.
* Implement and manage compounding systems in compliance with USP 795 and 800, as well as accrediting bodies, state, and federal regulations.
*Compounding Innovation: *
* Stay abreast of trends in pharmacy operations and 503A compounding.
* Drive innovation in pharmacy practices to enhance efficiency.
* Plan for future growth and enhancements in compounding services.
* New product formulation.
*Quality Assurance: *
* Establish and maintain quality monitors for operations and compounding.
* Perform quality control checks throughout the compounding process to ensure accuracy, potency, and stability of compounded medications.
* Monitor environmental conditions in the compounding area and participate in routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of equipment.
* Document all compounding activities accurately and maintain comprehensive records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
*Regulatory Compliance: *
* Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations governing compounding practices, including USP standards, FDA guidelines, and state pharmacy laws.
* Implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
* Participate in inspections, audits, and quality assurance programs to uphold pharmacy licensure and accreditation.
*Staff Development *
* Oversee and manage pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate compounding activities, prioritize workload, and ensure efficient operations.
* Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment focused on teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
* Provide leadership in staff training, mentoring, and professional development activities to enhance compounding skills and knowledge.
* Other duties as assigned
*Qualifications: *
* Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
* Active Alabama pharmacist license in good standing with the state board of pharmacy. Additional licensure may be obtained as needed.
* Experience and specialized training in compounding required.
* Strong understanding of compounding principles, techniques, and regulations, including USP , , and FDA guidelines.
* Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
* Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement in compounding practices.
