About
Good understanding of electrical design principles, system design, including power distribution, control systems, and safety compliance
Experience with electrical CAD tools
Experience with CE/UKCA directives, EMC, and electrical safety and MOD standards
Familiarity with MOD standards and defence sector requirements would be desirable but not essential
Design for cost, testability, manufacturability
System-level integration and debugging
Familiarity with PLCs, motor control, and industrial automation is a plus
Solving complex electrical integration issues across multidisciplinary teams
Ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements
Maintaining design data packs Key accountabilities may include
Lead the design and development of electrical systems for complex maritime systems
Define system architectures, select components, and ensure compliance with safety and EMC standards
Produce and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable assemblies
Support integration and commissioning activities
Work within a structured design process to ensure technical accuracy
Work with, guide and mentor junior engineers
Collaborate with suppliers and customers to resolve technical challenges
