Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Local Dispatcher to coordinate daily transportation and logistics operations within our Local Department at Trans-Ontario Express. The ideal candidate will manage local freight movements, communicate effectively with drivers and clients, and ensure on-time pickups and deliveries throughout the GTA and Ontario. This role is essential in maintaining efficient dispatch operations and supporting our commitment to exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
Duties
- Coordinate and schedule daily pickup and delivery orders with customers and drivers.
- Monitor shipment progress and relay real-time status updates to clients.
- Communicate with drivers and customers to resolve scheduling or delivery issues promptly.
- Prepare and maintain all necessary dispatch documentation to ensure smooth operations.
- Enter accurate data into operational software systems for order tracking and reporting.
- Manage day-to-day dispatch functions in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely freight movement.
- Collaborate with internal teams to maintain efficient local delivery operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable transportation regulations.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of dispatching experience (preferred).
- Strong geographical knowledge of the GTA and Ontario.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with clear and professional phone etiquette.
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work well under pressure.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new dispatch or operational software.
- Experience handling Dangerous Goods shipments is an asset (but not required).
- Previous experience in a logistics or transportation environment is an asset.
