What you’ll do:

  1. Focus on crafting production-level code that is clean, modular, and thoroughly documented, while strictly adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  2. Engage in collaborative efforts to define and document requirements, ensuring clarity, task breakdown, and accurate time estimates.
  3. Own sprint refinement and planning sessions, guiding development strategies and promoting an efficient software development life cycle (SDLC).
  4. Ensure the highest quality of software through meticulous testing and debugging, aligning with our standards for completion.
  5. Develop and maintain models for data, software, and network architecture that meet organizational standards and promote effective information exchange.
  6. Lead in identifying and analyzing the root causes of issues during testing phases and incident management. Innovate in testing by designing and implementing comprehensive test cases, including automating integration tests within the CI/CD pipeline to enhance early detection.
  7. Actively participate in code reviews to elevate code quality and maintain consistency across projects. Work on optimizing and refactoring existing systems and legacy code to boost performance and scalability.
  8. Oversee the CI/CD pipeline management for swift and secure code deployment.
  9. Regularly monitor the performance, security, and user experience of all applications under your team's purview, identifying and addressing areas for improvement with a focus on continuous enhancement.

What you’ll bring:

  1. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  2. 4 - 5 years of data engineering and cloud experience.
  3. 4 - 5 years experience as a software developer using OOP concepts and languages like Java or Python.
  4. Experience with cloud-based platforms and building data engineering solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  5. Hands-on experience with building data lakes and end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines.
  6. Hands-on experience working with data warehousing technologies (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake).
  7. Experience with data modeling is a plus.
  8. Hands-on experience with writing and optimizing SQL-based code.
  9. Experience with database performance optimization and tuning.
  10. Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, GCP Cloud Build).
  11. Experience with Containerization and Orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
  12. Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL Databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, GCP Firestore).
  13. Proficiency working with RESTful APIs and data handling.
  14. An API-first approach, loosely coupled systems, and domain-driven design.
  15. A pride in code quality and approaches towards testing.
  16. Demonstrable experience working with legacy code and the ability to optimize existing systems.
  17. A track record for building high-quality, maintainable, testable, and scalable software.
  18. A strength in pragmatically designing, building, and deploying scalable, highly-available systems.
  19. An ability to think abstractly and are comfortable with ambiguous/undefined problems.
  20. Excellent communication skills: you understand user needs and have the ability to translate them into actionable pieces of work.
  21. An attitude of leaving code/processes/people better than when you got there.
  22. A belief that companies should be socially responsible.
