Our new class of electro‑photonic chips is poised to revolutionize the optical interconnect market, enabling existing systems to be built at lower cost, delivering significantly higher price/performance and new higher‑speed interconnects that have previously been impossible.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to kick‑start and support our technical engagement with customers. Inpho is an early‑stage startup in the optical communications components space, sampling our first generation of groundbreaking transmit and receive photonic chips to customers.
As an FAE, you will play a critical, highly visible role in taking customers from first contact through technical evaluation/qualification and on to design‑win.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all technical aspects of the sales cycle.
Provide fast, clear, and impactful technical support to customers during design, eval and qualification phases.
Devise and recommend strategies and design tips to optimize performance in our customers’ products.
Direct and galvanize the engineering team ‘at home base’ to support customer testing efforts.
Coordinate and support demonstrations, qualifications, and trials.
Travel internationally to collect requirements and provide support that solves customer problems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Electrical, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, or a similar field.
Experience in engineering roles in the optical communications space.
A deep knowledge and understanding of how optical transceivers work.
Experience in technical customer support roles dealing with photonics and/or electronics (preferred, but not required).
Soft Skills
Effectively communicating across the engineering and commercial functions, both internally and externally.
Leading by influence.
A knack for distilling customer requirements down to the problems they are trying to solve.
Schematic and layout review to anticipate customer issues before parts are in hand.
