We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Telecom Design Engineer with a strong background in telecom infrastructure design, ideally within the Data Center industry. This role is critical to supporting our growing datacenter initiatives and will be prioritized accordingly. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a collaborative mindset to help drive innovative and reliable telecom solutions. Based out of Lenexa, Kansas (Kansas City) or near a Kiewit office. Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of telecom systems for datacenter projects, including structured cabling, pathways, spaces, and related infrastructure. Collaborate with electrical and controls engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of telecom systems. Develop detailed design documentation, specifications, and drawings in accordance with industry standards. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in telecom and datacenter design. Qualifications
10+ years of experience in telecom design, with a strong preference for experience in datacenter environments. Professional background in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or a related field. RCDD certification (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) is highly desired. Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience with BIM tools and CAD software. Familiarity with industry standards such as BICSI, TIA/EIA, and NEC. Knowledge of datacenter operations, infrastructure, and environmental requirements.
