Tasks & responsibilities Leading the development and meticulous execution of cutting-edge go-to-market strategies for companion diagnostics (CDx) will be your responsibility, ensuring our oncology assets achieve successful launches and widespread market adoption. Assessing potential CDx partnerships in close collaboration with translation medicine, regulatory and alliance management representatives to ensure selected partners meet commercial requirements with regard to commercial footprint and launch experience. Ensuring alignment between the CDx commercialization strategy and Boehringer Ingelheim's broader corporate portfolio strategy and long-term goals will be a critical part of your role, fostering a unified approach to achieving market leadership. Collaborating closely with internal teams and diagnostic partners, you will prioritize and implement CDx commercialization frameworks to ensure the commercial success of our diagnostics during their global launches. Spearheading strategic partnerships with essential external stakeholders, such as the American Molecular Pathology (AMP), the College of American Pathology (CAP), and diagnostic stakeholders beyond the US, will be key to boosting CDx adoption in pivotal markets. Analyzing barriers to the adoption of diagnostics in key global markets, you will leverage customer and competitor insights to refine our CDx commercialization strategies, addressing challenges to test adoption and pinpointing drivers for market success. Navigating the complex landscape of market access for CDx, you will tackle lab economics, develop reimbursement strategies, and streamline coding and test requisition processes to enhance test adoption across diverse regions. Working in synergy with cross-functional teams-including R&D, Marketing, Market Access, Medicine, Alliance Management (for managing external diagnostics partners), and OPU teams-you will lead the charge in driving successful commercial activities for CDx assets across major regions such as the US, Japan, EU, China, and the rest of the world (ROW). Overseeing global commercial agreements with diagnostic partners will fall under your purview, as you manage cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment and the successful execution of commercialization plans. This effort will be in close collaboration with Alliance Management, reinforcing the importance of cohesive action and shared goals. Equipping corporate teams with essential CDx expertise, you will design and deliver comprehensive training programs tailored for the Value Team and Operational Units (OPUs). This initiative will empower our teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive the adoption and success of CDx in various markets. Requirements University degree in a relevant scientific or business field (e.g., oncology, life sciences, business management). Over a decade of experience within the life sciences industry, with mandatory experience in diagnostics and roles of global capacity. Proven experience in commercialization strategy, particularly within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, and fundamental knowledge of companion diagnostics in oncology. Ability to navigate and influence commercially relevant diagnostic stakeholders in key regions (US and Ex-US), demonstrating a strong understanding of stakeholder dynamics. Expertise in overcoming logistical and operational challenges related to testing, including sample journey, test timing, and access issues across different countries. Capability to grasp asset strategy, market access strategy, and the overall market situation, translating clinical utility data into actionable market insights for CDx adoption. Skilled in engaging with key diagnostic symposia and publication platforms to foster the adoption of CDx in targeted markets. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions internally (e.g., marketing, regulatory, R&D) and manage external partnerships to achieve regional success. Proficiency in managing CDx partnerships, encompassing alliance management and global contract negotiations. Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying strategic and clear messages to a broad range of stakeholders: Board, Partners, Investors, Internally, KOLs, and the Public. Leadership qualities characterized by a results-driven, high-performing, and highly collaborative style; adept at influencing and building consensus across all organizational levels. Strong program management skills, showing high self-motivation, agility in multitasking, time management, handling uncertainty, and working under pressure with limited oversight.
