Principal/Senior HV Cable Design Engineer - Energy | Expression of Interest Overview The Transmission and Distribution sector is transforming as demand grows and regulatory targets evolve. Stantec is open to speaking with experienced HV Cable Design Engineers for future opportunities in its UK Energy Team. This role is appropriate for Principal/Senior Engineer levels and involves involvement in a wide variety of projects including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, FEED, and new builds, refurbishment works and connections schemes. You will join a growing and collaborative team and contribute to innovative, sustainable solutions to industry challenges and the UK energy transition.
Responsibilities
Design (Concept, FEED, and detail design) of transmission & distribution systems for utility companies based on international standards.
Carry out inter-disciplinary coordination and work effectively with leads to resolve design issues.
Apply practical knowledge to cable design and installation design, including cable routing layouts, trench and trenchless sections, cable bonding and phasing, cable pulling, termination and jointing arrangements.
Use CYMCAP software to size cables and perform calculations in line with international standards.
Work in a dynamic workload environment with the ability to adapt to short-notice changes.
Proficient in MS Outlook and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and in AutoCAD or MicroStation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution.
Chartered Engineer registration with the Engineering Council and ICE is preferred.
Experience as a civil substation engineer, with broader awareness of HV civil engineering projects.
Experience working with key T&D clients in the UK (preferred).
