Product Designer
The Product Designer will play a key role in shaping the future of U.S. Soccer's Learning Management product. The platform that delivers coaching education, referee certification, and player development curriculum to members across the country. This individual will be a key contributor within U.S. Soccer's growing product and technology team, and responsible for designing engaging, accessible learning experiences that serve coaches, referees, players, and administrators at every level of the game. The ideal candidate is a hands-on designer with strong craft, a systems-oriented mindset, and a genuine interest in the people behind the product. They will partner closely with product management, engineering, and content teams across the Federation to ship learner-facing and admin-facing experiences end to end and will help evolve the design system that supports U.S. Soccer's broader digital ecosystem. Primary Responsibilities Lead end-to-end design of major surfaces of the Learning Management product, including learner dashboards, course experiences, assessment and certification flows, and instructor and admin tooling Translate complex educational content (course modules, video review, in-person clinic logistics, certification renewal) into clear, intuitive, and engaging digital experiences Conduct user research with coaches, referees, players, and Federation staff and translate findings into product decisions Partner with content and curriculum teams to determine how learning material is best presented across web and mobile Contribute to and extend the U.S. Soccer design system, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability across products Collaborate closely with engineers throughout implementation, supporting design QA and balancing craft with delivery timelines Help define quality standards for learning experiences across the Federation, including patterns, accessibility benchmarks, and success metrics Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of expertise, or equivalent professional experience 2+ years of professional product design experience shipping consumer software A portfolio demonstrating strong visual design, interaction design, and end-to-end product thinking Proficiency in Figma, including building and maintaining components, variants, and tokens Experience designing for both web and native mobile contexts General knowledge of soccer Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments Must be able to connect "micro" details to the "macro" vision and mission Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) Desired Qualifications Experience designing learning, education, or training products (LMS, edtech, certification platforms, or professional development tools) Background working with video-heavy content, assessments, or progress-tracking experiences Demonstrated strategic hustle and work ethic with diversity of thought Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and designing for low-bandwidth or older-device contexts Demonstrated experience contributing to a design system as a maintainer Background in, and passion for, soccer, sports, or membership-based organizations.
