The Consultant, Digital Merchandising u2013 Strategic Initiatives is an integral role in delivering Sport Chek and Marku2019s digital merchandising strategic initiatives across their eCommerce platforms. This role focuses on enabling enterprise, omniu2011channel, and crossu2011banner initiatives by delivering scalable, customeru2011centric, and conversionu2011focused digital experiences that support longu2011term business goals.
Working closely with Digital Merchandising Operations, General Merchandising, Marketing, UX, Brand, Analytics, Technology, and Retail Media teams, the Consultant ensures that strategic initiatives, governance frameworks, and foundational digital capabilities are executed consistently and effectively across banners. This role plays a critical part in translating complex business priorities into clear digital merchandising execution while improving ways of working, reducing risk, and increasing organizational efficiency.
The Digital Merchandising team is responsible for driving both eCommerce and bricku2011andu2011mortar performance by partnering across the organization to deliver a strong digital strategy that prioritizes the customer and drives measurable results for the business:
Own the digital merchandising execution and enablement for strategic, enterprise, and omniu2011channel initiatives across Sport Chek and Marku2019s
Partner with Merchandising, Marketing, UX, Brand, Analytics, Technology, and Retail Media teams to plan and execute onsite support for major initiatives, pilots, and business priorities
Translate complex business, operational, or technical requirements into clear, customeru2011friendly digital merchandising experiences
Define, document, and support digital merchandising frameworks, governance, RACIs, and best practices to improve consistency and reduce execution risk
Act as a central point of coordination across multiple teams, ensuring timelines, dependencies, and deliverables are aligned and progressing
Use performance data, customer insights, and qualitative feedback to assess initiative success and identify opportunities to optimize or scale across banners
Provide subjectu2011matter expertise and consultation to stakeholders on digital merchandising strategy, execution standards, and customer experience best practices
Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or risks in current processes and proactively recommend improvements to ways of working
Support change management by helping teams adopt new tools, processes, or strategies tied to strategic initiatives
Contribute to the definition and execution of digital strategy for major omniu2011channel moments, enterprise programs, and longu2011term initiatives
What you bring:
Minimum 2u20133 years of experience in eCommerce, digital merchandising, web retail, marketing, content management, communications, or a related field
Background in retail, merchandising, or productu2011related environments is considered an asset
Postu2011secondary diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, IT, or a related field
Basic understanding of HTML and web technologies is an asset
Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Looker, or similar platforms
Strong proficiency with the Microsoft suite, particularly Excel, to support analysis, tracking, and reporting
Demonstrated problemu2011solving skills, with the ability to navigate digital tools, systems, and processes
Highly organized, detailu2011oriented, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fastu2011paced environment
A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn from crossu2011functional partners
An entrepreneurial, proactive attitude with a track record of taking initiative and delivering results
