Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Location: Southfield, MI Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Position Overview: A growing primary care organization is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join its clinical team. In this role, you will work closely with healthcare providers and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve mobility, function, and overall quality of life. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting individuals throughout their recovery and wellness journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out treatment plans and therapeutic interventions developed by the supervising Physical Therapist and care team
  • Guide and educate patients and caregivers on prescribed exercises, mobility techniques, and functional training
  • Deliver care with empathy, professionalism, and respect for each patient's unique needs
  • Identify opportunities to adjust treatment approaches to support patient progress, comfort, and safety
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to improve function, relieve pain, and help prevent future injuries
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed documentation of patient care and progress
  • Collect and record patient information, functional measurements, and treatment outcomes
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and professional clinical environment while following all legal and ethical standards
  • Stay current on continuing education and professional development requirements

Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapist Assisting
  • Active state PTA license or certification required
  • Prior experience in an outpatient, rehabilitation, or primary care setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques
  • Experience with therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and physical therapy modalities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable using electronic medical records and healthcare documentation systems
  • Ability to assist and lift patients as needed (up to 40+ lbs)
