About

Are you passionate about Cyber Security? Do you enjoy solving complex problems and helping organisations protect themselves from cyber threats? Do you want to be part of a small company that values its people and their contributions? We are looking for committed professionals who share our enthusiasm for Cyber Security.
As a Principal Cyber Security Manager, you'll be a senior leader who gets stuck in, running cyber security projects, growing client relationships, and helping shape where the company goes next. You'll lead engagements from start to finish, make sure we deliver great work for our clients, and build the team around you. This is a role for someone who can talk to a CISO about risk strategy in the morning and roll up their sleeves to review a security architecture in the afternoon.
You'll work closely with the Directors to spot opportunities, grow the business, and keep improving how we operate. You'll manage client relationships at a senior level, lead bids and proposals, and make sure we're always delivering work we're proud of.
*What You'll Actually Do*
*Lead Cyber Security Delivery*
You will run cyber security engagements from start to finish, covering risk assessments, security reviews, policy development, architecture assessments, incident response planning, and more. You'll be the senior face of Redbay on client engagements, providing direction and making sure we deliver on our promises. You'll quality assure work before it goes to clients because if it's got our name on it, it needs to be right. You'll manage multiple projects at once, juggling priorities and keeping things on track while supporting and guiding less experienced consultants. This isn't a purely management role, so expect to get hands on when needed.
*Grow Client Relationships and Develop New Opportunities*
You will build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and develop new ones. You'll lead proposals and bids, shaping our approach and making the case for Redbay. You'll spot opportunities, whether that's expanding the work we do with an existing client or identifying a gap in the market we should fill, and contribute to Redbay's strategy, service offerings, and go to market approach.
*Run the Operation*
You will put sensible processes in place and improve the ones we've got, with no bureaucracy for the sake of it. Working with the Directors, you'll help set the direction and make sure day to day operations run smoothly. You'll own problems and fix them rather than passing them on, and keep an eye on utilisation, workload, and capacity so we can deliver without burning people out.
*Grow the Team*
You will coach, mentor, and develop the people around you, using real engagements as learning opportunities. You'll lead on recruitment when we need to grow, helping us find and attract the right people. You'll create a culture where people are supported, challenged, and want to stay, and make sure performance is managed fairly and consistently with regular feedback.
*What We're Looking For*
*Must Have*
You will need significant experience delivering cyber security projects in a consultancy or professional services environment, with strong technical knowledge across core cyber domains such as risk management, security architecture, governance, assurance, or incident response. You must hold CISSP, CISM, or an equivalent professional certification. We're looking for someone with a track record of leading teams and managing client relationships at a senior level, with the ability to grow accounts and develop new business through trusted relationships rather than hard selling. You'll need excellent communication skills so you can explain complex cyber issues clearly to both technical and non technical audiences. You should be self motivated, decisive, and comfortable operating with autonomy. You must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
*Nice to Have*
Experience across multiple cyber security disciplines would be a bonus, for example GRC, penetration testing, SOC operations, cloud security, or OT security. Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CAF, or Cyber Essentials would also be valuable, as would experience working in or with government, defence, or critical national infrastructure clients. Additional certifications such as CREST, OSCP, NCSC certified professional, or similar are welcomed.
*What You'll Be Working On*
You'll help clients tackle real cyber security challenges, from defining security strategies and assessing their exposure to threats, to running risk assessments, reviewing architectures, and putting proportionate controls in place. The work spans advisory and hands on delivery, and no two weeks look the same. One week you might be presenting a risk assessment to a client board, and the next you could be helping a team remediate findings from a penetration test.
*The Practicalities*
This is a full time role, Monday to Friday, based in Portsmouth (PO3 5EJ) with the ability to work from home. You will need to travel to client sites at least two days per week. The role requires the ability to obtain SC clearance. Benefits include a company pension and flexible working.
*Who We Are*
We are a team of delivery leaders, cyber security specialists, and advisors dedicated to helping clients transition from legacy systems and adapt to modern security challenges.
*What We Value*
Integrity and Results: We uphold high standards of professionalism, ethics, and expertise. Customer Success: We align with our clients' missions to ensure impactful outcomes. Collaboration and Transparency: We work closely with our clients, iterating on solutions and openly sharing our methodologies and findings.
*Equal Opportunities*

If you are eager to grow your cyber security career in a dynamic and supportive environment, we would love to hear from you!
Application note: Due to the nature of the work, all employees undergo DBS and Security Checks. To qualify for full SC Clearance, you need to have lived in the UK for the last five years with no more than 30 consecutive days spent outside of the UK.
